The proposed project will aim to develop infrastructure for surface transport using slip forming techniques based on existing asphalt laying equipment and SFRC, the fibres being derived from wire or used tyres. The benefits of the new construction concept will be manifold, such as to reduce construction costs, minimise maintenance, reduce delivery time, reduce the energy consumption in road construction, absorb waste materials in road construction and make tyre recycling more economically attractive.
The project will deliver new fibres and concrete processes suitable for surface transport infrastructure, modifications to existing equipment to deliver the concrete, design guidelines and three full-scale demonstration projects addressing the needs of different European climates and economies.
