Through open calls SMEs are motivated to engage in cross-sectoral and cross border innovation and receive direct innovation support for the implementation of innovation actions or collaborative projects. The awarded SMEs are industrial frontrunners as they respond with their projects to cross-sectoral industrial challenges - aiming at green and digital transition of the construction sector - which have been defined in bottom-up, inclusive workshops by integrating perspectives and needs from different sectors and disciplines (Construction, ICT, Recycling and Circular Economy, Nature-Based Solutions, Additive Manufacturing).
The METABUILDING digital platform, that has been developed, will guarantee long-term innovation support, improve the knowledge base and facilitate co-development opportunities for SMEs and other innovation actors. It offers modules for the identification of funding opportunities, project partners, innovation experts, and innovative technologies. The METABUILDING platform aims at increasing the competitiveness of its users, the growth and resilience of the European industry and will provide a digital home and meeting point to EU clusters and industry players – a majority of them SMEs – ready to engage in innovation.
