Members and Board Members of ETRA mourn the sudden Valerie's death.
Dr. Valerie L. Shulman has been the Secretary General of ETRA for over 27 years. She began to study tyre recycling in the EU in 1989. She developed a Tyre Recycling Project in 1992 which became the nucleus of ETRA. A contributor to the preparation and presentation of the Basel Convention guidelines on used tyres, she participated in the EU Recycling Forum as representative for Tyre Recycling and represents European Tyre Recycling at EU and international conferences. She has contributed over 100 journal articles, authored, co-authored or contributed to a dozen books on tyre recycling, technologies and outputs - with the latest due from Elsevier (Tyre Waste and Recycling) in April 2021. Valerie Shulman, has been Secretary General of the Association, over 20 years, with knowledge of the sector, including the statistics (from 1992), economics, industrial and social aspects.
She was awarded the First RECIRCLE Lifetime Achievement Award in the Tyre Recycling Sector in 2021.
She lead the Association with professionalism and enthusiasm, winning everyone's trust and esteem.
The European Tyre Recycling Association is grateful to Valerie for the incredible job done along the years and remember Valerie for her drive, selflessness and many kindnesses.
