ETRA’s Dr Valerie Shulman was recently awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award in the Recircle Awards 2021, the globally-facing industry awards event recognising sustainable innovation, production processes, management and services within the tyre retreading and recycling sectors.

In total, over 9,000 votes were cast across the 18 awards categories that were open to the public vote, with significant engagement in the voting process being received from all corners of the globe.

The Board and the friends of ETRA are happy to congratulate Valerie for the well deserved recognition.

Dr. Valerie Shulman began to study tyre recycling in the EU in 1989. She developed a Tyre Recycling Project in 1992 which became the nucleus of ETRA. A contributor to the preparation and presentation of the Basel Convention guidelines on used tyres, she participated in the EU Recycling Forum as representative for Tyre Recycling. She represents European Tyre Recycling at EU and international conferences and has contributed over 100 journal articles and authored or co-authored several books on tyre recycling technologies. Valerie SHULMAN, has been Secretary General of the Association, over 30 years, with deep knowledge of the sector, on statistics, economics, industrial and social aspects.
