The Prince of Naples’ Gallery, Gemito Hall, provided a beautiful setting for the third Annual Session of flex & the city, Recycled Rubber Products and Applications for Roads, Urban Transport, Building and Sport.

The seminar was organised  byETRA, the European Tyre Recycling Association, in co-operation with ANTEL the Italian National Association of Local Authority Technicians), and ARGO. The City of Naples was the main sponsor of this event which brought together 80 participants, who were primarily technicians from the public administration and Italian professional associations. The head of Environment  Commission of the City's Council, Mr. Marco Gaudino representing the Mayor opened the seminar.

The seminar was designed to illustrate the many uses of recycled tyre rubber in road and urban furniture applications, highlighting the flexibility of its use and the high performance of the materials. The participants showed great interest in the topics including: the uses of rubberised asphalt, reinforced concrete, rail vibration and noise insulation, among many others.

Representatives from the tyre recycling sector, end users, and operators of the various market sectors attended as well.

Naples is an important city in Italy that in the recent past, has undertaken a variety of projects to improve the local infrastructure systems. It is currently involved in a programme to modernise the key areas of the city. The presentations were followed by a good debate and exchange of contacts that will ensure an interesting follow-up.

This event has strengthened the cooperation between ETRA and ANTEL and confirmed that the relationship  between the private / public sector is a key element for the market growth RTMs.
